That leads us to find today countless narrow alleys, hidden squares, symbols that remind us of the families who lived in this place a long time ago … in short, Santa Cruz is an area with a special charm that continues preserving even today, that traditional essence that makes this place a magical space

The Jewish quarters of the Iberian Peninsula had a prominent role in the history of the entire territory.
There is evidence of the existence of Jewish communities in the Iberian Peninsula already in the Roman period of the Spanish Levant and South of the Peninsula, between I / II centuries, although there are theories that say they possibly arrived in the 4th century BC. with the Phoenician merchants.
These communities called the Iberian Peninsula ‘Sepharad’ so over time they were called Sephardic Jews. As a religious minority, it was always treated as such by the different rulers who succeeded each other in the territory. Some monarchs accepted them more than others, either for tolerance and respect, or also for interests, especially economic ones. This fact has resulted in the Jews being considered today as the culture that has remained the longest in the Peninsula.
The Jewish community was expelled from Spain in 1492 by the Catholic Monarchs and the Spanish Inquisition, thus closing the Jewish historical chapter in this territory for many years.
